Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC)


The Veterinary Clinical Complex, Tirunelveli was established on 22/06/2012, committed to excellence in diagnosis, treatment and management of clinical problems. Apart from providing facilities for clinical training to the undergraduate and internship students, it also provides research facilities to the staff and students. The faculty conducts research to enhance current knowledge regarding etiology, diagnosis, treatment of diseases and organizes overseas and national training programme for the benefit of the veterinary students and veterinary practitioners.

Objectives

  • To provide Veterinary Clinical service to the farmers and pet parents
  • To provide teaching and clinical training of undergraduate, postgraduate and internship students of TANUVAS and other veterinary universities
  • To offer expert opinion and treatment of referred cases
  • To provide advanced diagnostic facilities for livestock and pet animals
  • To provide ambulatory clinical service to the public
  • To offer Continuing Veterinary Education Programme to the practicing veterinarians
  • To provide Externship Clinical Training programme for International students
  • To provide expert opinion on the health care of wild and zoo animals
  • To provide clinical facility for the research on veterinary and animal sciences

    Under-Graduate

    • Clinical Case presentation for the final year B.V.Sc & AH degree students are being conducted regularly

    Post-Graduate

    • Postgraduate students of Veterinary Medicine are trained in various clinical areas.

    Internship Clinical Training

    • B.V.Sc & AH degree students of Madras Veterinary College, Chennai and Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal and Orathanadu are deputed to this institute regularly for the Internship programme
    • B.V.Sc & AH degree students of neighbouring states are deputed to this institute regularly for the Internship programme

Extension and Training

  • Clinical Investigations, Mass Contact Programmes, Veterinary Health Camps, Infertility Treatment Programmes, Pet Animal Vaccination & Health Camps and Awareness Programmes are regularly conducted by VCC, VCRI, Tirunelveli.
  • Continuing veterinary education programmes on various areas of small and large animals are conducted to the practicing veterinarians.

Research

  • Post graduate research programme involving clinical cases are being conducted in the respective units.
  • Standardization of cost-effective surgical protocols for reconstructive and transplant surgeries in small animals.
  • Ultrasonographic diagnosis of abdominal diseases in ruminants and equine.
  • Molecular epidemiological study on viral diseases of small ruminants.
  • Study on canine vector borne diseases in Southern Region of Tamil Nadu
  • Ultrasound aided follicular dynamics assessment to improvise bovine fertility rate.
  • Comparative study on exfoliative cell morphometry of canine estrus cycle and its clinical significance
