The Department of Veterinary Parasitology was created during May, 2023 as a constituent unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Veerapandi, Theni District, with an aim to offer Under Graduate courses in B.V.Sc & A.H. Apart from undergraduate teaching, the department involves in research and public health awareness activities on parasitic and parasite-borne zoonotic infectious diseases of livestock, poultry, pets, wild animals and humans along with disease investigation and clinical samples analysis.
OBJECTIVES
To offer courses in Veterinary Parasitology for undergraduate students and to introduce innovative educational technologies in teaching and evaluation for U.G. students
To undertake research on epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitic diseases of veterinary importance
To offer training programmes and contact courses to field veterinarians to disseminate the latest trends in diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention of parasitic diseases/infections
To create awareness to entrepreneurs, farmers and pet owners on parasitic infections and their control in livestock and pets

Laboratories are equipped with facilities to carry out diagnosis of parasitic infections/infestations
A student lecture hall equipped with seating capacity of 100 seats equipped with audio and visual aids such as Projectors, LCDs, sound systems, Interactive Boards and Digital podium.
