The Library, Veterinary College and Research Institute Theni was established in 2020 and plays a vital role in supporting the academic growth of both students and faculty members. The library houses a rich collection of books and journals. In addition, internet facilities are available for accessing online books and journals. The library provides a quiet and comfortable reading environment, with ample seating facilities for both students and faculty.
The library is located on the first floor of Academic Block 2, covering an area of 4432 square feet, and is equipped with the following infrastructure facilities:

In addition, technical personnel from the poultry industry and veterinarians from various parts of the state are permitted to utilize the library for reference. Research scholars from nearby institutions are also allowed to access the library resources for reference purposes.
The Library functions under the direct supervision of the Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Theni, who also serves as the Chairman of the Library Committee. A Professor and Head of Department is nominated as the Library Officer and acts as the Convener of the Library Committee.
The Library Committee meeting is being conducted every year to develop and improve the entire Library activities.
The Library has developed a strong collection of books to support the diverse information needs of its user community. The collection includes textbooks ranging from foundational to the most recent syllabus-based titles. At present, the VCRI Theni Library holds approximately 1,813 printed books.
The Library subscribes to 5 print journals and receives 2 magazines through free subscriptions to meet the academic and professional knowledge requirements of students, staff, and faculty members.
A specialized and regularly updated collection is maintained for various competitive examinations, including UPSC Civil Services, General Knowledge, Public Administration, GRE Analytical Writing, and more. These resources are procured and updated based on the needs and requests of students and faculty.
The library provides access to a range of digital resources including J-Gate, Scopus, BioOne Digital Library, Wiley, and Indian Journals, supporting research and academic study.
The library is a member of the Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA), an online journal consortium funded under NAIP by ICAR. CeRA provides access to approximately 3,000 online journals across various disciplines in Agricultural Sciences, including Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
The E-Library section of the VCRI Theni Library with 20 desktop computers to facilitate access to both subscribed and open-access full-text electronic journals in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. This section is fully equipped with air conditioning, a projector with multimedia speakers, and two 3KVA UPS systems to ensure uninterrupted service. The 20 computer terminals are dedicated for use by students and faculty members, providing seamless access to a wide range of digital academic resources.
Photocopying services are available to all library users at nominal charges. Both students and staff regularly utilize these facilities for their reprographic needs. Additionally, an Epson scanner is available for use by students and library staff for scanning and digital documentation purposes.
Book exhibitions are organized regularly by the Library of VCRI, Theni for the benefit of students and faculty members. Approved book sellers of the university participate in these events and display the latest publications across various disciplines.
ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON “EFFECTIVE USE of MYLOFT” - 12.08.2025” was organized by the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Theni. A total of 36 faculty members and 94 students participated and benefitted from the workshop.
