• National Cadet Corps (NCC) is offered as one of the compulsory non-credit course (0+1) for students admitted in first, second and third professional year in Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal.
• The NCC infantry wing of VC&RI, Namakkal i.e., 6/12 TN BN NCC is functioning as a constituent unit of 12 Tamil Nadu Battalion NCC, Salem.
• The unit enrolls cadets to a maximum strength of 52 (Boys & Girls) every year since 1994.
• The NCC cadets are trained in basic military training activities like drill, firing, weapon training and map reading, etc.
• The cadets are also imparted knowledge on national integration, leadership, first aid, personal hygiene, sanitation, personality development and various social services activities, etc.

• Lt.Dr.S.Karthikeyan, Associate NCC Officer, VCRI, Namakkal attended the Pre Commission (PRCN) Training course of 90 days duration at NCC Officers Training Academy at Kamptee, Nagpur, Maharashtra from 25.07.2021 to 23.10.2021.
• 15 NCC cadets of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal has participated in the 3km “Fit India Run” programme organised by 12 TN BN NCC on 18.09.2021.
• A special guest lecture on “Future for Emerging Vets - Ideas & Activities” was delivered by the former Director of Clinics and Director of Extension Education, TANUVAS & former Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Imphal, Mizoram Dr.D.Kathiresan on 29.11.2022 on the eve of celebrating the 75th foundation day of National Cadet Corps
• 52 NCC cadets of VCRI, Namakkal had participated in the cleanliness drive on the banks of River Cauvery under Puneet Sagar Abhiyan-2022 on 05.12.2022 at Mohanur, Namakkal District.
• 52 NCC cadets of VCRI, Namakkal has participated in the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 rally held on 22.12.2023
• Lt. Dr. S. Karthikeyan, Associate NCC Officer and 52 NCC cadets of VCRI, Namakkal attended the “Kargil Vijay Diwas - 2024 ” rally on 25.07.2024.
