This center was started as Poultry Research and Development Centre on 13.11.1980. On 08.04.1999, it was renamed as Veterinary University Training and Research Centre

Two research sub projects were completed and the salient findings are as below:
- Assessment of immune response in layers against RD vaccines in different poultry farms of Tiruchy district. Scientist in-charge: Dr. T. Lurthu Reetha, Asst. Professor. NDVK booster is recommended during 18th week of age. To maintain a satisfactory immunity against RD after 36 weeks of age, LaSota administration is recommended.
- Screening of animals for blood protozoan parasites in tick infested and / or febrile animals in Vellore district. Scientist in-charge: Dr. M. Babu, Professor and Head. Only 0.37% of animals attended the camp were febrile and / or tick infested. The incidence was more in females (28.95%) than in males (16.44%). The incidence was higher in ND (26.44%) followed by HF cross (15.55%) and Jersey cross (11.35%). No positive cases was recorded in Jersey cross males, HF cross males and buffalo males.

- One seminar on banana cultivation and post harvest technology for the farmers was organized at Kuzhumani village under the Scheme on Information Technology and Rural extension in India on 20.01.2003. Resource Persons from National Research Center for Banana, Tiruchirapalli interacted with the banana growers and explained different post harvest technologies.
