Activities

• Conducting on campus training programmes on dairy, sheep, goat, turkey, pig farming etc. periodically for the benefit of the farmers and also for women self help groups, farm women and unemployed rural youth of the region.
• Conducting "Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps" on 'Preparation of milk, meat and egg products' based on the needs of the entrepreneurs and farmers.
• Conducting surveys to identify the farm problems and document the package of practices and ITK followed by the farmers.
• Field level research for identifying reproductive disorders in livestock and solving infertility problems.

• Two research sub-projects, Status of turkey farming in Thanjavur district and Establishment of EVM Garden are under way.
• Disease diagnosis during outbreaks in livestock and poultry and recommending suitable preventive measures.
• Participating in livestock protection camps, mass contact programmes, infertility camps etc.
• Technical guidance, both on-campus and off-campus, provided to the farmers regarding starting and management of livestock and poultry farms.
• Suggesting measures for effective utilization of agricultural by-products and agro-industrial wastes of the region.
