VETERINARY UNIVERSITY TRAINING AND RESEARCH CENTRE
KARUR

The Centre is functioning at Panduthakaranpudur village of Punchai Kadambankuruchi panchayat, Karur taluk since 26.08.1996. The centre is located at about 12km away from Karur on the NH-7.

  1. Farmers Training Programme: This Centre is conducting both On-campus and Off-campus training programmes to the farmers, livestock entrepreneurs, members or SGSY and NGOS on Dairy cattle, Sheep, Goat, Pig, Rabbit, Turkey, Japanese quail farming and on feeding management practices during drought situation and preparation of milk products.
  2. Advisory Service: This Centre is providing regular advice and consultancy to farmers concerning their farm problems.
  3. Disease Diagnosis: Systematic survey of disease incidence and disease diagnosis during disease outbreaks in livestock and poultry are carried out. Post-mortem and clinical material examinations are being carried out for disease diagnosis and to suggest suitable treatment and preventive measures.
  4. Mass Contact Programme and Exhibitions: The staff of this attending mass contact programmes/ Infertility camps/ Kalnadai Pathukappu Thittam camps to give expert opinion and to educate the farmers on new technologies on livestock and poultry farming, besides organizing exhibitions to create an awareness about scientific methods of livestock farming.
  5. Transfer of Technology: Transfer of new technologies to the farmers and to the line departments is carried out through various extension programmes viz. demonstrations, video shows, radio programmes, leaflets and pamphlets.
  6. The Centre has adopted four villages viz. Periyavarapalayam, Chettipalayam, Athipalayam and Vadugapatti in Karur District under the TANUVAS Village Adoption Scheme to transfer technologies available and also to health care of livestock.
