VETERINARY UNIVERSITY TRAINING AND RESEARCH CENTRE
ERODE
A Livestock Research and Development Centre was established at Erode on 13.11.1980, which now functions as Veterinary University Training and Research Centre at 306, Sathiamangalam road, Veerappan chatram, Erode- 638 004. This center renders services to transfer viable technologies from the laboratory to the farming community and strives to suggest solutions to the location specific problems.
Conducting training programmes on dairying, sheep and goat farming, pig farming, rabbit farming, poultry farming, preparation of value added milk products in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry, Farmers Training Centre, Bhavani, Aavin, NGO's like IDEA INDIA and MYRADA Krishi Vigyan Kendra to encourage livestock based self-employment for rural women, school drop outs, graduates and unemployed rural youths.
Attending to disease outbreaks, examining clinical materials for proper diagnosis, apprising farmers on the latest technologies for profitable livestock farming through exhibition and video films during mass conduct programmes, infertility camps and farmers meet, suggesting low cost feed formulations and feeding pattern during drought seasons and preparing pamphlets on animal husbandry and distributing the same to the rural farming community are the other activities.
A total of 62 on campus and 166 off campus training programmes were conducted for the farming community. Five villages were adopted under ‘Village Adoption Scheme of TANUVAS”.
