The VETERINARY UNIVERSITY TRAINING AND RESEARCH CENTRE is functioning at No.35, Thiruvalluvar Street, Varadharajan Nagar, Semmandalam, Cuddalore - 607 001 from 01.07.2006, in a rented building. The centre is located at the western side of Kandasamy Naidu Women’s College and next to SBI Colony Street. The centre has easy access to the main road. Town bus facility and Share auto facilities are available.

Activities

In coordination with Department of Animal Nutrition, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai, a NADP scheme on “Validating the research on mineral map of Tamilnadu” is carried out. Another NADP scheme on “Genetic upgradation of Cattle and Buffaloes in Tamilnadu: Adoption of oestrus synchronization techniques to improve productive and reproductive potential” is to be implemented in coordination with Department of Animal Reproduction Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai.

Already a DBT scheme on “Empowerment of women self help group through entrepreneurial training in scientific Quail farming” has been completed.

VUTRC CUDDALORE
  • On - campus and Off - campus training programmes on various Animal Husbandry practices in coordination with NGOs, AHD, DRDA, Mahalir Thitram, ATMA etc. are carried out. The training programmes are conducted using Computer-aided technologies like power point presentations with LCD projector.
  • Participating in Kalnadai Pathukappu Thitam to create awareness about improved livestock management practices through video lessons, pamphlets and skill demonstrations.
  • Importance is given to raise fodder among Livestock farmers.
  • Conduct of village level meetings, group discussion and method demonstrations.
VUTRC Cuddalore
  1. This centre has trained about 4,000 (220 SHGs) Self Help Group ladies of Cuddalore district on “Dairy farming and Preparation of value added milk products from milk” and “Goat farming” by obtaining funds from DRDA, Cuddalore.
  2. About 10,000 Co-3 fodder slips were distributed to farmers of Cuddalore district, besides educating them about the importance of fodder in milk production.
  3. Turkey farming and Quail farming practices have been developed in Cuddalore district by training the farmers through this centre at Cuddalore.
