BACKGROUND
            Constituent unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal
OBJECTIVES

  • To impart education to the under graduate and postgraduate students in the subject of Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine
  • To adopt suitable research programmes and provide facilities to the postgraduate and doctoral degree students for doing their research work.
  • Carrying out research projects funded by the university / external sources.

  • Developing e-content for Veterinary Epidemiology and Zoonosis and Preventive Veterinary Medicine - II for undergraduate education

  • Screening of leptospirosis by DFM & MAT
  • Developed and standardised a technique for Cryopreservation of leptospires
  • Developed IHA kit for screening of leptospirosis
  • Developed and assessed the efficacy of egg yolk immunoglobulin for enteric pathogen of chickens
  • Standardized techniques for screening Livestock and poultry diseases
  • Developed coupled complex vaccine for IBD
  • Weather based forecasting of diseases of small ruminants
  • Isolation and molecular characterization of  IBRV and fowl pox virus 
  • Molecular characterization of Marek’s disease virus and Infectious bronchitis virus

CURRENT FOCUS

  • Development of live sporozoites vaccines for chicken coccidiosis
  • Molecular epidemiology of bovine viral diarrhoea and paratuberculosis in bovines
