OBJECTIVES

  • Imparting education to undergraduate and postgraduate in Veterinary Physiology
  • Carrying out research program in Veterinary Physiology
  • Assessing the fatty acids profile of buffalo milk
  • Development of progesterone  impregnated vaginal polyurethane sponge for inducing  estrus in anestrus buffaloes
  • To assess the growth potential of feedlot rams fed rice-bran oil mixed with concentrate

 ACHIEVEMENTS/ EXCELLENCE

Education

  • Multimedia video programme for amphibian experiments was developed
  • Developing e-content for endocrinology and reproduction chapters of physiology for undergraduate education

Research

  • Standardized methods for analysing fatty acid profile (feed, milk, meat and egg), vitamin E and selenium (feed, blood and egg)
  • Progesterone impregnated vaginal sponge was designed and developed for inducing estrus in anestrus buffaloes and all the treated animals exhibited estrus
  • Omega3:omega6 fatty acids at 1:5 achieved and total omega-3 fatty acids content were doubled than commercial eggs and meat. by including linseed, bajra, fish meal and their  combination in poultry feed
  • Chromium and selenium content of Azolla pinnata were enriched for including in poultry feed to boost immunity and antioxidants status of chickens.
  • Defaunation using unrefined rice bran oil per os once in week improved weight gain of lambs
