MADRAS VETERINARY COLLEGE
DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY
The Department of Agronomy was started during 1940 with an objective of offering courses on `Principles of Agronomy and Fodder Crop Production' and `Mixed Farming and Farming Systems Management' to the U.G. students of veterinary science. This department is now offering the syllabus prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India on `Fodder Production and Grass land Management’. Apart from this, the department is also involved in gardening and general upkeep of the college campus.
A Fodder Crops Cafeteria was developed under the ICAR Development Grant in which different categories of fodder crops were raised in small plots for demonstration to the U.G. students. Blow ups depicting various fodder crops and their special characters are displayed in the laboratory.
