TAMIL NADU VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY
CENTRE FOR ANIMAL HEALTH STUDIES
CENTRAL UNIVERSITY LABORATORY

Date of start : 01.04.1993.
The Central University Laboratory was started in the year 1993. This laboratory is unique in the whole country wherein under one roof all disciplines of animal health are available to the farming community, animal product exporter and governmental agencies.

Objectives

  • To establish centralized diagnostic facilities under one umbrella
  • To co-ordinate disease investigation and laboratory examinations and to implement
    control measures
  • To obtain recognition as a reference laboratory in south India
  • To produce and supply diagnostic reagents to the field centers
  • To offer expert guidance on various livestock and poultry diseases to farmers and
    helping them in diagnosis and control of diseases.
  • To study the changes in disease patterns due to ecological shift

“To serve as a regional diagnostic laboratory for animal diseases in the state of Tamil Nadu and to conduct research on fundamental and applied aspects of animal diseases and to demonstrate, how the new knowledge would improve the health and productivity of the animals ”.
