Nutrient management in sunflower

Application of 12.5 tonne FYM + 2kg Azospyrillum + Apply 50% NK + 100% P as basal + 25% NK at 20 & 40 DAS + 12.5kg micronutrient per ha + Foliar spray of 0.5% MnSo4 & 0.5% ZnSo4 on 30, 40 & 50 DAS.

Split application of N and K gradually increase the plant growth and seed set.

Micronutrient application or foliar spray overcame the deficiency and increased the seed size and seed yield to 25% over recommended dose of fertilizer.

2.

Weed management in Maize

Spraying of Atrazine 50WP @ 500gm/ha at 3 DAS followed by 2,4-D sodium salt at 1.25 kg/ha as post emergence at 30 DAS

In addition to pre emergence herbicide application, application of  post emergence herbicide 2, 4 –D sodium salt @ 1.25 kg/ha on 30 DAS,  effectively controlled the weeds to the maximum extend (68 %) and increased the Crop yield (18 %).

3.

Nutrient management in rainfed Blackgram

12.5:25:12.5:10 kg NPKS/ha + 2% DAP + 1% MOP + 40ppm NAA spray at 1st flowering and 15 days after flowering.

1. Spraying of potassium improved seed set and overcame the stress/drought.
2.Spraying of NAA improved the flower initiation and arrested the flower drop
3. Yield Increase was 20 % over farmer’s practices (2 % DAP spray only)

4.

Propping in banana by using polythene tape

Propping by using ¾ inch polythene tape during the bunch emergence period.

Though many farmer had spent thousands of rupees for propping the banana trees with bamboo poles during fruiting for support against strong wind (Rs.63,000/acre for 4 years). As compared to previous method, Propping banana stems with polythene tape or tying them with cables are practiced by big banana plantations due to its low cost nature (Rs.5,300/acre) .
