FISHERIES COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THOOTHUKKUDI

The Fisheries College was established in 1977 at Thoothukkudi as a constituent unit of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and was brought under Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University with effect from 20th September 1989, the date on which the latter was formed. The college was renamed as the Fisheries College and Research Institute during 1990. Its primary mandate is to produce graduates in fisheries sciences to meet the needs of the fisheries sector.
