Courses offered
The University offers four under graduate courses namely B.V.Sc. & A.H, B.F.Sc., B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology) and B.Tech.(Poultry Production Technology); post graduate courses namely M.V.Sc., in 20 Disciplines, M.F.Sc., in 8 Disciplines; and doctoral degree namely Ph.D., (Veterinary) in 19 Disciplines and Ph.D., (Fisheries) in 4 Disciplines. The University also offers various Postgraduate Diploma Courses and M.Phil. in Biotechnology.

| B.V.Sc. & A.H. | The degree requires five years of full time study (nine semester). It includes course work in animal husbandry, para-clinical, applied veterinary science and animal husbandry economics and extension. In addition the students are exposed to field / laboratory work, small and large animal clinics besides an intensive internship programme for a period of six months to make the graduates moulded to face the challenges of animal and poultry diseases and management. |
These degrees are open to students pursuing Higher Secondary Course (10+2) with Biology or Botany and Zoology, Physics and Chemistry in academic stream (or) Dairy / Poultry /Fisheries in vocational stream. The minimum requirement of marks and reservations are as per the norms fixed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. During the last semester of education, students will have opportunities to undergo short-term academic training at foreign Universities / Institutions. |

| B.F.Sc., | The degree requires four years of full time study. It includes course work in fisheries sciences, production, post harvest technology, packaging, and marine biology, value added products, economics and extension education. The course provides ample opportunity to work in field situation, which makes the graduates meet the emerging industrial needs in fisheries sector. |

| B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology) |
The degree requires four years (8 Semesters) of full time study including compulsory inplant training for a duration of one semester. The course equips the students to meet the challenges faced by the Food Processing industry in coming decades, which are manifold. The theoretical understanding and practical training of the graduates are going to manage the increasing modernization of Food Products Processing Plants along with higher level of automation to perform new operations. The degree is given to students pursuing Higher Secondary qualifications (10+2) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. | PG Diploma in Business Management (Animal & Fisheries Sciences) |
The duration of the course is one year comprising of two semesters. It is a part time programme, offered in evenings. The objectives of the course are to equip the graduates with the required conceptual and interpersonal skills and social purpose for managerial decision making and implementation, to develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of functional areas of management, to develop a sound knowledge, to build up information system as a part of management and of their use in decision making and to develop a through understanding of the interrelationship between the functional areas of technology, business administration including financial management, human relation, marketing strategies etc., and external environment. Eligibility for admission is possession of UG degree in the disciplines of science or arts with an OGPA of 3.0/4.0 in Trimester system, 7.0/10.0 in semester system or 50% of marks in conventional system. For SC/ST candidates, a pass in the qualifying system is sufficient. |

The objectives of the course are to enhance the technical skill of the graduates to work in the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory to response in emergencies like animal disease outbreaks.
