AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION CENTRE

Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) is established by Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(TANUVAS) under the financial assistance of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for developing co-ordination and intensive interaction between the researchers and technology users.  This centre aims at developing linkage between the Research Institution and farmers.The ATIC is currently operated as self generated mode.

Objectives

1. To provide a single window delivery system for the information, services and products developed from this University to the end users.
2. To facilitate easy access to the farmers to the institutional resources available in terms of technology, products like different strains of livestock, poultry, fish, fodder seeds, planting materials, animal clinic and other diagnostic services.
3. Providing mechanism of feed back for the technologies disseminated and to serve as a link between the Research Institute and the end users.

Information 

• Books and CDs in Tamil on livestock and fisheries published by the Directorate of Extension Education, TANUVAS are available for sales at ATIC.
• Books published by ICAR in English on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries are also available for sales at ATIC.
• Video lessons on livestock and fish farming, milk products, fish products preparation, disease diagnostic kits are also made available for screening and for sales.
• Pamphlets, leaflets on livestock, fish production and management, disease control, products technology are available for free distribution to the visiting farmers.
• The journals, magazines and news letters of various Universities are being made available in the ATIC library for the benefit of visiting farmers.

• Regular advisory services on livestock and fish farming and products preparation are being offered.
• Viable Bank projects on livestock and fish farming are prepared for starting new farms.

• Fodder seeds like Sorghum, Desmanthus, Lucerne, Subabul, Stylo and fodder slips like Co1, Co3, Horticultural saplings, fodder tree saplings and other planting materials are made available for sale for the farmers.
• Ornamental fishes, fish tanks and other accessories are being sold.
• Milk products like, flavoured milk, khoa, panner, fish products like fish pickle, prawn pickle are being sold through ATIC.
• Livestock (Cattle feed) and Poultry (Turkey, Quail) feed are sold for the benefit of livestock farmers.
• Farm implements, agricultural equipments and garden tools are also made available for sales to the needy farmers.
