  1. Post Mortem Examination: Poultry farmers in and around Namakkal bring the deed and ailing birds to Avian Disease Laboratory, Namakkal for finding the cause of death.
  2. Poultry Disease Diagnosis: Suitable materials are collected from the ailing birds and during post mortem and are used for the detection of specific antigen/antibody demonstration.
  3. Serology: Antibody titration for ND, IB and IBD is regularly done.
  4. Antibiotic sensitivity test: It is done to decide the choice of drug for treatment in case of bacterial infections of poultry.
  5. Water analysis for Microbial load: Water, being the source of infections for poultry, is analyzed for the level of bacterial contamination.
  6. Feed Microbiology: Various raw materials to be used for poultry feed are checked for their microbial quality.
  7. Disease Investigation: Whenever there is problem of disease outbreak in poultry farms, steps are taken by Avian Disease Laboratory, Namakkal to ascertain the root cause of the problem and complete disease investigation.
  8. Farm Visits: Farm visits are undertaken by Avian Disease Laboratory, Namakkal to solve the problem faced by poultry farmers.
  9. Advice: Advice on management, disease prevention and control measures and schedule of vaccination is regularly offer to the poultry farmers.
  10. Atmospheric Microbial load in Poultry Shed and Hatchery: It is done to find out the level of contamination at shed environment.
  11. Revenue generated during 2002 - 2003: Rs.2,21,258/- (Rupees two lakhs twenty one thousand two hundred and fifty eight only).
  12. Education: M.V.Sc. and Ph.D students of various faculties from Madras Veterinary and Veterinary College and Research Institute are utilizing this center for collection of clinical materials for their research programme.
